James C. Valentine Jr. was born on February 9, 1949, in the city of New York, to James
and Doris Valentine. James attended Theodore Roosevelt H.S. and was awarded a scholarship to Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. After graduating from college. James enlisted in the military (Navy) where he served honorably for nine years. Jamal, as he prefers to be called, was the captain of his high school and college basketball teams.. Jamal was always a seeker of new adventures. He rode his motorcycle across the country, he was an avid cyclist , and swimmer. In his later years, he began practising and teaching Tai Chi , an ancient martial art. He last taught at the Palm Coast Community Center., which he enjoyed immensely,. Because of his love for the written word, Jamal amassed an extensive collection of books, that could easily stock a book store. Jamal loved people and was loved by many. . It brings me joy to know that he is so fondly remembered by everyone he meets. Our friends have shown such love and support and when he passed, they were there, for him and me. Thank you all. I thank God, for bringing Jamal back into my life. His loss is devastating but we will be together again..It is written.. Jamal is survived by his wife; Barbara, his 5 brothers,:Calvin, Randy, Kevin, Marvin and Keith. 3 sisters: Denice, Valerie and Crystal and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews .
We love and miss you Jamal!!!
