Mr. James Jones Van Sickle III's Obituary
It is with great sorrow we announce that James J. Van Sickle 3rd. of Port Orange, FL, went to be with the Lord on Feb 5,2019
Jim was born on Jan. 31, 1943 in Cumberland Maryland. He graduated from Allegany High School in 1961.
Jim honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, he was honorably discharged in 1965.
Jim was a supervisor at the Celanese plant , in Cumberland,Maryland for 19 years.
He relocated to Florida in 1984 with his loving wife Nancy, of 38 years.
Jim proudly served as Sargent at the Tomoka Correctional Institution, for 22 years until his retirement in 2007.
Jim loved living in Florida. He was passionate about golfing with friends, also enjoyed working out at the local Gym. He met friends at a local diner and enjoyed the commarade of friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially University of Maryland basketball.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Van Sickle 2nd and Millie Van Sickle.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by his devoted daughter Tina Van Sickle of Cumberland, Maryland. Stepdaughters, Christina Fortner of Covington, Ohio, Debra Abbott of Yorktown,Virginia, and Jamie White of Cumberland, Maryland. Linda Foo and husband, Sonny, of Delaware. He is also survived by two nephews, several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service, with full military honors, will be held at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery on February 15, 2019 at 11:00 am.
