Jean Louise Mundt's Obituary
Jean Louise Mundt, 61, of Palm Coast, FL passed away on Tuesday, June 16th, 2022 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Elmira, NY on August 7th, 1960 to Glenn and Norma (nee Bailey) Guiles. Jean met the love of her life Joseph “Joe” Lee Jones in Elmira. In 2002, they moved to Bunnell, FL with their granddaughter.
Jean loved butterflies, watching ‘Law and Order’ and the ‘Madea’ comedies, and spending time with her close family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Jean made friends wherever she went and is a beloved community member.
Jean is predeceased by her parents Glenn and Norma, as well as 6 of her 7 siblings: Glenn Jr., Barbara, Glenna, Patricia “Pat”, Theresa and Phyllis.
She is survived by her son Justin (Desiree) Mundt and daughter Shanika (John) Sabins, and her sister Emily Wallace. She had 9 grandchildren including 3 grandsons: Justin Mundt Jr., Jayden Mundt, and Lance Cantrell; and 6 granddaughters Oliva Mundt, Tatiana (Felix) Fowler, Alissa Jenkins, Kendall Cantrell, Adrianna Cantrell, and Aletta Cantrell. She also had 2 great-granddaughters: Harmony Fowler and Enjeinai Jenkins.
She will be greatly missed by so many in her extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins including Tina and Shawna Robinson, John Angus, Jason Guiles, and James Hall; as well as her close friends Scott, Jessica, and Adrianna Knight.
More than anything else, people remember Jean as being a giver and a nurturer. She was a loving, caring, and selfless individual who went to great lengths to take care of the ones she loved - even if it was to her own detriment. She was always willing to give food, clothing, and shelter to others. Jean cared so much about her family, most evident as she took an active role in helping raise many of her grandchildren. If you were a relative, friend or neighbor of Jean’s, you knew she had your back. For all that Jean did for others, she never expected anything in return.
Her caring nature also translated to animals. She took in and cared for many cats and was especially fond of her beloved Esther and Zachariah.
A memorial service celebrating Jean's life will be held at Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 1pm at the First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach located at 300 North Central Avenue, Flagler Beach, FL 32136. Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service of Bunnell, FL is assisting the family with arrangements. www.HeritageFlagler.com
