Jerry B. Cain's Obituary
Jerry, B. Cain, 38 Black Bear Lane, passed away January 25, 2019 at home. He was born on June 23, 1945 at home in Delta, Illinois. Jerry was preceded in death by parents Goldie Ellen and Jerry Mar Cain, brothers Oris Dean and James Lewis.
He graduated from Alexander County Central High School in Tamms, Illinois in 1963 where he was the senior class President and also a player on the Tamms high school Eagles baseball team (leftie 1st baseman & solid hitter).
He relocated to Elgin, Illinois immediately following high school and secured employment at Alumax Extrusions in St. Charles, Illinois. In his 30 years of work at Alumax he was a General Laborer, Die Repairman, Maintenance Leadman, Purchasing Manager, Plant Manager and Corporate Purchasing Manager. In the 70’s he took a 5 year hiatus from Alumax, bought a trucking company, named it “The 5 C’s” and performed the job responsibilities of the Owner/Operator, Driver, Accountant, Mechanic and Human Resources Manager all wrapped up in one. The company delivered corrugated boxes to various companies in Chicago, Illinois. After 4 years he returned to Alumax as the “interim” Purchasing Manager. Subsequently working a year at both jobs he sold the trucking company and continued his career at Alumax. He was transferred to Dunkirk, New York and worked as the Plant Manager for 10 years. When Alumax closed he relocated to Monett, Missouri and began working for Hydro Aluminum. In 2004 he was transferred to the plant in St. Augustine, Florida. In late 2005 he embarked on another career working in Construction, later commenced a position with Flagler County at Princess Place where he worked until age 68 (2013) when he retired.
He was an avid fisherman and loved riding his motorcycle. He possessed a rare ability that epitomized a “Mr. Fix-it”.
Survived by his wife of 36 years Janice Lynne Cain, Daughters Jeanne Kay Scheffel (Marc) of Jackson, MO and Shannon Lee Green of Titusville, FL, sons Michael Patrick Cain of Blytheville, AR and Matthew Alan Walker (Victoria) of Monett, MO. 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Jerry was a devoted member of the Hammock Community Church where there will be “A Celebration of Life” service at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 3, 2019. Hammock Community Church is located at 5299 N. Oceanshore Blvd. (A1A), Palm Coast, FL 32137. Pastor Dr. William Duke will be officiating.
