Joan B. Fromhold's Obituary
Joan B. Fromhold passed away peacefully November 15, 2017. Joan was born in the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City February 10, 1930 to the late M. Stanley Brown and Margaret (Ferris) Brown. Joan grew up in Pelham Heights, New York. She graduated Pelham High School in 1949 after studying in Lausanne, Switzerland and voice in New York City. She attended Green Mountain College in Poultney Vermont.
Joan married the late Douglas Sackett Fromhold May 19, 1951 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They raised their four children in Syosset, New York. Joan made Huntington, New York her home from 1978 till 1991. After leaving Huntington in 1991, she moved to Palm Coast, Florida. She carried high religious principles throughout her life which instilled a positive effect on her family. Among her many employments, the latest was working for the Hammock Dunes Development District as a toll collector at the Hammock Dunes Bridge from 1992 until her retirement in 2012.
Joan was instrumental in planting wisdom, kindness, love, humor and integrity in her family’s lives. She is survived by her children Dakin Ferris Fromhold, Stanley Douglas (Barbara) Fromhold, Karen Marcia (J. Stephen) Cruz, and Joanne Patricia (Charles) Arnst. Her grandchildren S. Daniel (Marina) Cruz, Kristen (Dustin) Smith, Margaret Cruz, Matthew Fromhold, Nicholas Fromhold and a great grandchild Cruz Alexander Smith.
