John Peter Alberse's Obituary
John Peter Alberse, age 93, of Palm Coast, Florida, peacefully passed away April 14, 2026, at his residence. He was born July 15, 1932, in Ramsey, New Jersey, son of the late John (Jay) and Lillian Alberse. He resided in the Northern New Jersey area, most specifically in Ramsey, NJ where he raised his family.
John proudly served his country in the United State Navy during the Korean War in the Pacific as a Radarman/Sonarman on the Gerring Class Destroyer USS Norris. Honorably discharged as a 3 rd Class Petty Officer. John later served on the Ramsey Police Department as a Patrol Officer for 4 years. He then owned and operated a successful trucking company in the NY/NJ/CT/PA State area. Upon official “retirement” in Florida he took on a part time job driving a small dump truck for a prominent local landscape supply company, a job he enjoyed for over 25 years.
John was actively involved in the Ramsey, NJ community. He volunteered as a coach in youth sports and was continuously involved in social activities. Known for his athletic abilities, he enjoyed golf, bowling, horseshoes and most any other sporting activity. John achieved a season baseball batting average of .486 for St Lukes High School, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. During his time in Palm Coast, FL he continued his passion for golf, including two hole-in-ones, and participation in social clubs and activities.
In addition to his parents was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen and Frances, first wife Arlene and second wife Joan.
John is survived by his sons Gary, Michael, Thomas and daughter Diane, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him. John’s family and friends are truly blessed to have shared in his life, and they will forever cherish the memories of him.
