John Richard Brady's Obituary
John Richard Brady, also known as Jack, Dad, Pops, or PopPop, passed away on April 17, 2026.
John was born on March 22, 1942, to Catherine and Nicholas Brady in Jersey City, NJ, the third of four children. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in Jersey City and went on to graduate from St. Peter’s College.
He married Julia Anne Cadden Brady on June 17, 1967, at St. Aloysius Church in Jersey City. Together, they raised a large, raucous family of eight children, along with numerous foster children and friends who became family, in Bethlehem, PA. John instilled a strong work ethic in his children, working for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for many years. He always had a side hustle, long before it was called that, and was especially proud of his work with Lehigh County Crisis Intervention in the Lehigh Valley.
After he and Julia moved to Palm Coast, FL, he ran for mayor twice and remained actively engaged in local politics, frequently writing letters to the editor and sharing his strong opinions.
He was predeceased by his parents, his two siblings, and his eldest daughter, Catherine Mary (Katie). John is survived by his second wife, Kathleen Sperry of Daytona Shores, FL; his sister, Dolores Dapuzzo of Long Island, NY; and his children: John Nicholas (Simi) of Indialantic, FL; Richard (Mary) of Trinity, NC; Julie of Maryville, TN; Maureen “Beanie” of Boulder, CO; Michael (Manda) of North Whitehall Township, PA; Owen (Maria) of Tampa, FL; Sarah of Northampton, PA. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Services will be announced later for a celebration of his life to be held in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to the Kindred Hospice Foundation.
Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service of Bunnell, Florida is assisting the family with final arrangements. https://www.HeritageFlagler.com
