John F. Cleary
John F. Cleary of Daytona Beach, FL, was born on May 24, 1932 in Lockport, NY, to the late James William Cleary and Bessie Isabelle Cleary nee Geier. He passed away on February 8, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 80 years.
John was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in Berlin, Germany. During his time in the service John received the Army Occupation of Germany Medal and The National Defense Service Medal. John retired in 1990 from New York Telephone after 34 years of service, then relocated to Florida. He enjoyed golfing, watching football, and playing softball in the fast pitch league in Lockport, NY. John was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife Sylvia of 56 years; sons, Michael and wife Margaret of Ponte Vedra, FL and James and wife Marci of Fairport, NY; daughters, Paula Wilson and husband John of Troutdale, OR, and Kim DioGuardi and husband Patrick of Mt. Morris, NY. Also surviving are his brothers, James and wife Lill of Webster, NY, and Thomas and wife Patricia of Lockport, NY; a sister, Sheila Renna of Lockport, NY, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
All arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral & Cremation Service, Port Orange, FL.
