Dear Uncle John,
The other day, all the great memories we have together came rushing through...then I laughed out loud!!
I'll always remember that time you came to the house with that RELAXER in your hair, talking about you were trying something different. The look in your eyes...you should have seen it. It said, "I'm clueless, please help!" CHILE, I HOLLA'D!! I'm talking about a gift that keeps on giving! You were such a good sport about it. LOL.

The laughs, the unapologetic tears of love, the loud "seize the moment" conversations, the "guy talks" (even though I'm your niece. lol)....I was able to witness your zest for life, your sensitivity, your vulnerability, your strength, your youthful excitement, and your honest (and STRONG) opinions about life, love and relationships. (We went back and forth on that one for years didn't we? lol)

Remember that night at ma and dad's, when you decided to cook us this special dish (a recipe we thought you got while in Greece)? By the time you were finished, all the left overs from the fridge were in it, plus some of the wine we were sipping on. After about an hour, it dawned on us (and you) that this dish ain't from Greece! You had gotten carried away with all the loud, jive talking we had swirling about. It was so fun, AND your "International, One-Skillet Meal" was delicious. By the way, it pairs really well with a dry red, daaawling. hee hee

He used to tell me that after he passed, he wanted people to say that he had LIVED his life. So,
Grampa LIVED his life.
I loved how his voice filled a room.
He gave hugs like he could squeeze all the love he had for you in an embrace.
I felt like he knew me when I hardly knew who I was or what I really wanted to be and accepted me and loved me regardless. I am grateful for his patience with me. And I could never express how grateful I am to him and Carol for everything. He LIVED his life. I’m incredibly lucky to have been apart of it.
What I want to share may also be called RIGHTLY DIVIDING YOUR TIME. Time is a fleeting commodity. It cannot be recaptured nor relived. The hands of the clock continually remind us that the present is becoming the irreversible past. In view of the fact that there is only one life to live and it will soon be past, Paul admonishes us to be busy redeeming the time (Eph. 5:16). This is also what Mr Ferguson preach and teased by saying live in the moment ... and reminding us that we could do it... it’s NOT hard... it’s EASY.. He will be truly missed in many ways.. may God have favor on his soul and shall he Rest In Peace..

I have always loved how grandpa had stories of his life and how he use to share them with me and tell me the “Do’s and Don’ts” of life. We would often joke together about various topics and he would always end with “Carlos you can do anything you just got to believe.” I have fond memories of when he had land in Georgia and we would ride horses and I would explore his land as a kid thinking I was a pioneer of some sorts. Grandpa always had a smile on his face and took a hands on approach to solving anything. I recall one memory when I was young a got stung by a big ant.. he wrapped some Tobacco and duck tape around my finger and and said “ man the f&@* up” lol. Before he passed he was always trying to get me to come down there and we would joke about going to the beach to “for sight seeing” ;). We had tentative plans of him one day bringing me to Greece to meet my distant relatives.. I miss and love him.. and will miss how positive he was always with me about life. Rest easy grandpa and watch over us!!

There are not enough words in Webster Dictionary to describe how I am feeling at this moment. You were always my rock to lean on when things were bothering me; you were always there to tell jokes to and even laugh at the stupid ones. I will miss being able to call you everyday at 7am for coffee talk and at Noon for lunch talk and at 6:30/7 pm for after dinner talk. I will miss hearing your voice; seeing you; knowing you were only 2hrs away. Everyone says you're at peace now; I know this; however my heart aches realizing you will not be physically in my presence.
I am so so grateful you called me on June 3rd I am so grateful to be able to hear you say my name one more time and me being able to tell you I love you one more time. Let me say it again....I LOVE YOU DADDY SO MUCH AND MISS YOU ROYALLY. ITS GOING TO BE A LITTLE DIFFICULT FOR ME FOR A WHILE BUT I KNOW IF YOU WERE HERE YOU WOULD TELL ME "THAT'S LIFE, THAT'S WALGREENS." Tell mom I love her and miss her royally as well.
