John "Flop" Harper's Obituary
John Jeffery Harper, fondly known to many as "Flop," passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Stuart F Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast, Florida. Born on October 30, 1959, in Bunnell, Florida, Flop was the cherished son of the late Keith and Joan Harper.
Flop's life was a tapestry woven with his passions for farming, fishing, hunting, NASCAR, and grilling. These pursuits were more than hobbies; they were ways he connected with the world and those he loved. Whether it was the thrill of a catch, the quiet of the woods, the roar of the engines, or the sizzle of the grill, Flop embraced every moment with enthusiasm and joy.
Flop accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior in 1983 and was baptized. A devoted family man, He was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather. His legacy of love and laughter lives on in the hearts of his family. Preceded in death by his beloved parents, his wife Lynne Harper, and his siblings Jimmy Harper, Cindy Maryes, and Pam Harper, Flop is now reunited with them in peace.
He leaves behind a treasure trove of memories with his sons, David Harper, Darin Harper (Stephanie), and Brian Harper (Shirley); his adored grandchildren Riley, Cannon, Liam, Leigha, and Cole; and his siblings Sandra Terrell, Steve Harper, Kathy Moody (Bebe), and Julie Young (Pete). Flop's family extends further with 32 nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Flop's memory will forever be cherished, his spirit living on in the laughter, love, and warmth he brought to all who knew him.
A Celebration of Flop’s life will take place at 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Bunnell, officiated by Morgan Henry. Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation beginning at 5:00 PM, also at the First Baptist Church of Bunnell, to share stories and honor the life of a man who touched so many.
Arrangements are under the care of Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service.
