John B Ponte's Obituary
John B. Ponte, 92, of Ormond Beach, FL, died peacefully in his sleep on March 30, 2023. John was a sociable guy with a great sense of humor—loved by his family and their friends of all ages. He loved hanging out with the guys, fishing, shooting pool, playing with the grandkids, and entertaining with his harmonica. Memorial services will be scheduled in Massachusetts at a later date.
John grew up in East Providence, RI and served honorably in the Navy on the USS Salem. He and his wife Alice (Sanders) lived in New York and Massachusetts, where they raised their family. John had a long career in the airline industry prior to moving to Florida—residing in Hollywood and then Ormond Beach.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his six children: Jeanne Kopacz and husband Karol, Pat Casey and husband Bob, Lorraine Ponte, John V. Ponte and wife Anna, Raymond Ponte and wife Sue, and Steven Ponte and wife Victoria. His only surviving sibling, Sister Hilda Ponte, is a member of the Venerini Sisters in Worcester, Mass. John is also survived by grandchildren Kristen Wrenn, Amy Patton, B.J. Patton, Carolyn Ralston, Anthony Ponte, Kelly Ponte, Michael Ponte, Danielle Ponte, Brian Ponte, Christine Adams, Stephanie Ponte and great-grandchildren Nicholas, Christopher, Isaiah, Devon, Brayden, Lyla, and Caleb.
