John Yozzo's Obituary
John Yozzo, 89, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, in Palm Coast, FL. Born on January 3, 1936, in Mt. Kisco, NY, he was the seventh child out of ten. He lived a full and active life marked by dedication to family, friends, service to his country, and a love for all sports (especially the New York Yankees and New York Giants). John graduated from Mt. Kisco High School in 1954 where he exceled in baseball, basketball and football. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army.
John built a life centered around family and community. He married Vivian (Saglibene) on October 5, 1963, with whom he shared 63 years. They moved to Mahopac, NY, where together, they raised two sons, Jonathan (Nancy, preceded in death) and Christopher (Natalie). He took great joy in being a grandfather to Lilly, Lucy, and Gigi and his granddaughters brought him much pride and happiness.
John enjoyed a successful 40+ year banking career where he helped many with their financial ambitions. He was very active in the community as well. He served as the President of both the Brewster Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce, was actively involved with the Guiding Eyes for the Blind and enjoyed many years as a high school football official. But outside his family and friends, his biggest love was for the game of golf. He enjoyed countless rounds at some of the best courses in the country. He also had five “holes in ones” throughout his playing career and won many club tournaments and championships. When he wasn't on the golf course (or viewing it on TV), you could find him scratching off a lottery ticket, cooking, fishing, or watching the business news.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose Yozzo; brothers Red, Joe, Nick, and Frank Yozzo; and sisters Ann Yozzo, Liz Dellaero, Aggie Trembone, and Rose Aquilino. One sister Maryann Morreale is still living. John’s legacy lives on through the family he loved and the friendships he nurtured. He will be missed by all.
A funeral Mass will be held on August 29, 2025, at 11AM at Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church, 915 North Central Avenue Flagler Beach FL 32136, followed by a celebration of life at the Grand Haven Clubhouse, 500 Riverfront Dr, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
