Joseph Thomas Reddington's Obituary
Joseph T. Reddington, Jr. (Jay)
When Jay would read an obituary that stated, “On this date, this
person died unexpectedly,” he would ask: “What was unexpected?
Everyone dies eventually!”
On January 23, 2021, Jay Reddington died – as expected.
He had hoped to live much longer, but lung cancer changed his plans. While alive, he touched many lives and tickled a lot of funny bones. (He also ate a lot of Funny Bones - they were his favorite!) Gifted with a facile mind and a wickedly playful nature, Jay could turn the most mundane situation into milk-out-of-the-nose hilarity. When he wasn't hosting sales training webinars – a job he loved and at which he excelled - Jay enjoyed working on his 1967 Pontiac Le Mans convertible, listening to his vinyl record collection, rooting for the Red Sox and Patriots, solving puzzles, rhythmically bouncing his biceps, shouting “Helicopter” for no apparent reason, writing songs (This cow ain't no ordinary cow!), and watching Columbo with his dog Casey. Jay could read and speak backwards, so it is fitting that he passed away on a palindrome day: 12321.
Comforting him in his final hours were his wife and partner of 30-plus years and the love of his life Terri Reddington, stepdaughter Danielle Blaine, son-in-law Ricky Blaine, sisters Maureen Potter and Katie Vaas, brother-in law David Vaas, sister-in-law Lisa Bachman, and best friend Pete Meehan.
In addition to those mentioned above, Jay is survived by his
granddaughter Kaiha Blaine, brothers Danny (Jody), Terry (Sue) and Richard (Debbie). He was preceded in death by his parents Rosemary J. and Joseph T. Reddington, Sr.
We who love Jay grieve the loss of a husband, stepfather, father-inlaw, grandfather, big brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin, friend, coworker and mentor who was taken from us many years too early. We will never forget him.
