Joseph M Scarpone's Obituary
Joseph Michael Scarpone, 77
November 24, 1947 – August 28, 2025
It is with absolutely broken hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Michael Scarpone, who died on August 28, 2025, at the age of 77. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at AdventHealth in Daytona, Florida.
Joseph was born on November 24, 1947, in Newark, New Jersey, to Joseph J. Scarpone and Kathryn (Sullivan) Scarpone Padian. Throughout his life, he wore many hats—Joseph, Joe, Joey, Daddy, Dad, Poppy, Poppason, and affectionately, Uncle Dodo Head—and each name brought a smile to his face.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Mary Ellen Scarpone, with whom he shared a deep, unbreakable bond. They were each other’s person, soulmates in the truest sense.
Joe was the proud father of seven children: Jennifer Scarpone, Carrie Scarpone, Joseph Scarpone, Harry Bowden, Elizabeth Pandich, Ashley Scarpone, and Magen Scarpone. He also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren who were the absolute light of his life, and a great granddaughter.
He is survived by eight siblings: Kathy Scarpone-Rolland, Daniel Scarpone, Susan Pirrocco, Linda Wassmer, Theresa Martino, Margaret Scarpone-Mehall, Michael Scarpone, and Paul Scarpone, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers James Scarpone, and John Scarpone.
Joe was a tough, stubborn man—but also endlessly charismatic, with bright “baby blues” and a contagious smile that could light up any room. He had a gift for turning even an ordinary day into an adventure filled with laughter, joy, and unforgettable memories.
He loved life and lived it fully. Whether it was golfing, kayak fishing, hunting, heading to the beach, watching sports, playing games, or simply spending time with family, Joe did it all with heart and humor.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Crystal Springs Resort,
1 Wild Turkey Way, Hamburg, NJ 07419.
Another celebration of Joe’s life will be held in Palm Coast at a later date.
Though words can never capture the full measure of a man like Joe, his spirit will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love he gave so freely.
Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting with the arrangements.
