Julieta Joseph Morais Ross' Obituary
In Loving Memory of Julieta Ross
December 30, 1933 to July 17, 2025
Born in Rio Abajo, Panama City, Panama, Julieta Joseph was the cherished daughter of Richard and Glenason Joseph (maiden name Jordan). Raised in the Jordan family home, she was an active member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, youth fellowship leader, and part of the Girl Friendly Club where she learned sewing, etiquette, and modeling. She was crowned Miss Rio Abajo Panama a testament to her grace and poise. She pursued her education at Escuela Práctica de Comercio business school and went on to work as an accountant for Amador Officer’s Club.
Julieta moved to Brooklyn, New York to begin a new chapter in the US. There, she married Laurence Archibald Morais and had two children, Melinda and Michael, both born on the same day: July 10th, 4 years apart from each other. Together, they built a joyful family life filled with school, arts, athletics, and involvement with Jack and Jill of America Inc and other community driven associations. She continued her education at Pace University. Though Julieta and Larry eventually divorced, their family bond remained strong.
In New York, Julieta remained close to her Panamanian roots and friends, including Dr. Carlos Russell, who founded Black Solidarity Day in America. She was a member of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women and a season ticket holder with the Negro Ensemble Company. Her love for Broadway, music, and the arts was a constant joy in her life.
She worked at the prestigious Chase Manhattan Bank and retired after 25+ years of dedicated service. She then moved to Palm Coast, Florida where she worked with ITT, the company that developed the city. She also served as a site manager for children ages zero to five in Flagler County Schools and received an award for Outstanding Dedication and Service from 1990 to 1997. She attended St Thomas Episcopal Church. In 1996, she married Harold Ross, who preceded her in death in 2019. They moved to Pembroke Pines, FL in 1997 and enjoyed South FL living. They traveled the world and shared a beautiful life with friends, family, and their dog Max.
Julieta was known for her elegance, warmth, and love of family, music, dancing, culture, and novellas (Spanish soap operas). In November 2024, she returned to Palm Coast to live with her daughter Melinda. She spent her final months surrounded by love, care, and laughter. She passed peacefully on July 17, 2025, just one week after celebrating one last birthday with her children.
Julieta leaves behind her daughter Melinda Morais, her son Michael Morais, his wife Robyn, along with Julieta's grandchildren: Carla Morais, Demitri Fearon, Kyle Morais, Bryce Morais, and Sasha Morais. She is also remembered by a large family of nieces, nephews, cousins, caregivers and many dear friends who loved her deeply! May her soul rest peacefully in heaven!
A memorial service will be held on Saturday August, 2, 2025 at 11am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church located at 5400 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, FL 32137. Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service of Bunnell, FL assisted the family with arrangements. www.HeritageFlagler.com
