Jun Villanueva's Obituary
Jun Villanueva, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed non-profit professional, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 7:45 pm at the AdventHealth Stuart F. Meyer Hospice Inpatient Center in Palm Coast, Florida.
Born to Pantaleon Uy and Maria Villanueva, Jun was the second youngest of five siblings. He is survived by his brother, Antonio Uy, and was predeceased by his siblings Jose Uy, Vicente Uy, and Elizabeth Uy Arceo.
Jun pursued higher education in the Philippines, graduating from both Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a distinguished non-profit career.
Professionally, Jun served as the comptroller for The Salvation Army headquarters in Virginia. His dedication to his work earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, many of whom have expressed heartfelt condolences upon hearing of his passing.
In 2020, upon retiring, Jun and his beloved wife, Elizabeth Cruz, relocated to the Hammock Dunes Community in Palm Coast, Florida, where they enjoyed the serenity and beauty of their surroundings.
Family was central to Jun’s life. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his son, Jonathan Uy; and his stepsons, Renato Cruz Sogueco and Ronald Cruz Sogueco. He was predeceased by his son, John James Anselmo, survived by his wife, Aileen Isidoro Anselmo.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Raphael Jara Sogueco; Isabelle, Miguel, and Antonio Anselmo; Maxine and Alexa Sogueco; and Patxi and Adriana Uy.
Jun’s affection extended to his loyal canine companion, a female beagle named April, who brought him much joy.
A man of deep faith, Jun was a devoted Catholic and an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. His commitment was evident in his daily attendance at Mass over the past several years. His final resting place will be at the Church’s Columbarium.
