Karen R Mowery's Obituary
Karen Rae Mowery, 75, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away unexpectedly at home early Sunday, January 5, 2025. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, on August 28, 1949, she was the cherished daughter of Mildred Annie Royer and Arthur Henri Royer, who proceeded her in death. She was also predeceased by her beloved siblings: older sisters Cynthia, Diane, Linda, Marylou, Sandra, and Valerie, as well as an older brother Richard.
Karen was a 1967 graduate of Attleboro High School and spent the first 37 years of her life in her hometown before residing in Saint Augustine, Florida; Divide, Colorado; and ultimately Palm Coast, Florida, where she lived for 24 years.
Karen’s greatest joy was turning a house into a home. Whether through her delicious home-cooked meals, lovingly crocheted and knitted creations, or skillful crafts, Karen had a gift for making something from nothing. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and family meals were her way of bringing everyone together. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren are kept warm this winter, rocking her most recent knitted creations, enveloped in her love. She served as a member of V.A.W., an alliance built on global partnerships.
Karen’s legacy of love is carried on by her five children: Kristina Gardner of Vero Beach, Florida; Kendra Cabral of Ormond Beach, Florida; Kimberly Bitner of Palm Coast, Florida; Ryan Burr of Loveland, Colorado; and Jared Mowery of Palm Coast, Florida, along with her 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and dear friends. She is also survived by her devoted significant other of eight years, Jeff Davis, with whom she shared her life and home.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Karen’s life on January 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Bunnell, FL. Following the service, a gathering of remembrance and refreshments will take place at Kimberly Bitner’s home in Palm Coast.
At Karen’s request, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, a private scattering of her ashes will take place on January 25.
