Larry Gene Main's Obituary
Larry Gene Main, 76, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Larry was born in East Millinocket, Maine. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and served in the United States Army. Following his military service, he earned his Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University in 1973 and became a member of the Louisiana Bar Association in 1976. Throughout his life, Larry pursued a wide range of interests and adventures. He practiced law, traveled the world, and mined gold on the Alaskan coast. He also spent many years working for the federal government, including with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration.
Larry was the son of the late Cecil Lockwood Main and Faye Violet Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Main and David Main, and one sister, Patricia Cotton. Once inurned, Larry will join brother David at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 9am.
Larry was dearly loved and survived by one sister, Nancy (Main) Sattler (Douglas). He is fondly remembered by his seven nieces and nephews: Cheryl Sattler (John Lockwood); Holly Eury (David), Mark Sattler (Laurel), Stacy Main, Chris Cotton (Misty), Michael Cotton, and Miranda Stott (Ted); as well as nine great-nieces and nephews, Holden Cotton (Taylor), Jace Cotton, Joshua Eury, Riley Main, Ben Sattler, Dylan Sattler, Theodore Stott; Laura Stott, and Catherine Stott.
Larry will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
