Laura Mae Yelvington's Obituary
Laura Mae Yelvington, 84, went home to be with Jesus on January 23, 2024, in St. Augustine, FL. with her family at her side. Laura was a faithful woman, who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. She grew up in the church and was saved at an early age. Laura had a God-given gift of teaching. Her passion and love for teaching children has been a lifelong ministry of 65 years. She loved to draw and illustrate her stories, and had creative ways of engaging children to learn God's Word.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Linnie Rodenbaugh. Her siblings were Raymond, Curtis, Edith, Rosey Lee, Francis, Leona, and Buddy.
Laura will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Roy, of 66 years and her children, Teresa, Judy, Roy Jr., and Tina. Laura will also be fondly remembered by her 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
A visitation will be held at 3:00 pm, this Sunday, January 28, at Lighthouse Church of God, with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Augustine, Monday morning at 10:00 am.
Pastor LaVoy Newton Jr. will be officiating the service.
Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
