Laurie Ann Dunson's Obituary
Laurie Ann Sullivan was born in a Naval Hospital in Newport, Rhode Island at 12:22 PM on September 10, 1956, to Norvel N. "Pete" and Darlene Sullivan.
She attended Browning-Pearce Elementary School, Palatka Middle School, and graduated from Palatka South High School in 1974, where she participated in and held office in many clubs and enjoyed sports.
After graduation, she worked as a tour guide with IT&T in Palm Coast, FL and soon after, through a mutual friend, she met her future husband, Billy, at a Halloween party, where she was dressed in a unique costume, where it was love at first sight. It was a whirlwind romance, and quickly there after, they moved in together after only knowing each other for one week, and have been together ever since, where they were married six months later on April 19, 1975, and have been together for a total of 49 years and married for 48 1/2 years.
On July 6, 1976, they were gifted with a son, William S, "Bill" Dunson, III. Growing up, she loved having Bill's friends over and waited on them hand and foot. She loved catering to their every need. So much so, all of Bill's friends called her "Dunson's Deli", which she loved, because she was constantly surrounded by and feeding all of his friends which she considered family.
Laurie had many longtime friends who would regularly come and visit and have a girls day out which she thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to.
Laurie enjoyed life with card games, puzzles, horses, searching for painted rocks, her many dogs, cooking, sitting on the porch and watching all the different birds and bunny rabbits. In her younger days, she loved the beach, camping, helping Billy in his garden and the outdoors. Billy would cut wildflowers for Laurie, which she loved, and bring them home to her from one of his hunting trips, and her son and friends would say "Why are you picking weeds and bringing them home" and Laurie would say, " you should be more thoughtful and pick them for your girlfriends" with a smile on her face. Laurie loved her flowers and loved it when Billy brought them home to her.
June 14, 2016, Laurie became a grandma which she was overjoyed by. Walker was born and she was able to do what grandma's love to do, spoil their grandkids.
Unfortunately, Laurie became ill at a young age in life at 52 years old. She was a soldier through it all and fought it out and had her family by her side helping her each step of the way. Her family was her life and she loved helping and providing for them. Laurie had strong family ties and beliefs, and was known for her generous and great spirit, outgoing personality, and for her beautiful smile.
October 11, 2023, at 7:15 PM, Laurie passed away peacefully at home with her husband, Billy by her side. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 49 years, William, "Billy", son William "Bill", and grandson, Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete, and Darlene Sullivan. She is survived by three brothers, David Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, and Steven Sullivan, (Tammy), and two sisters, Patti Sullivan and Kathleen Sullivan Lowe (Lyle).
Per her wishes, she chose cremation with no service or burial.
