Lee Roy Brown
Lee Roy Brown, 88, of Port Orange FL, passed away on February 16, 2015, at his home in Port Orange. Born on a farm near Fairforest, SC, on December 18, 1926, Lee was the son of the late Charlie Brown and Cora Lee Blackwell Brown of Wellford, SC.
Lee was a veteran of WWII, having joined the US Navy in 1944; he was a radioman. Lee attended WLT High School, Wellford, SC: graduated from the USC in 1959 with a BSEE degree
(Tau Beta PI); in 1976 he earned an MS in Management (MSM) from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL.
Lee retired from Martin Marietta Corp. (now Lockheed Martin) in Orlando, FL. in 1992 as an Aerospace Engineer. He worked at Martin for a total of 15 years, put in 10 years with General Dynamics, and 7 years with several other military and space hardware companies in the central Florida area. He also held a patent. He was a member of the Manicani Island Association. He finally settles in Port Orange right beside the river.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Kingsley Brown; three sons, Robert Roy Brown of Deland, FL, Charles William Brown (Carla) of Marietta, FL, William Sage Brown (Eden) of Key West, FL; two step-children, Debora Kingsley Billstone Clark (Julian) of Gainesville, FL, David Powers Billstone of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Jocelin and William Brown (Charlie) and Brittany, Julianna and Rebecca Clark (Debbie). He is also survived by a nephew, two nieces and many cousins living throughout SC. Lee was predeceased by a sister, Frances Geneva Brown Murph (Bill) and a brother, Marvin Wylie Brown (Betty). He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Lee was a Baptist and a believer.
Lee always considered himself very blessed, having a good life and a caring and loving wife and family. His children have been a joy and delight. He was always very proud of his family and loved them very much.
Interment will be at Woods Memorial Park in Duncan, SC.
Arrangements are under the care of Heritage Funeral & Cremation Service, Port Orange, FL.
