Leona S. Doyal
Leona Stacy Doyal, age 92, wife of the late Samuel T. Doyal, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2015 in Port Orange, FL.
Born in Kermit, WV in 1922 (the oldest of 10 children), she graduated from Mountain Mission High School. After working as "a Rosie the Riveter" in Cinncinatti, OH, at the beginning of World War II, she went on to join the Coast Guard. During her military service, she met and married Samuel while both were stationed at Port Everglades. They started their family, and after having 3 children, she graduated cum laude from the University of Miami with a degree in education. She also received her Masters Degree in education from Florida Atlantic University. While teaching and working as a high school guidance counselor for 33 years in Broward County, she started a private practice as a Mental Health Counselor. As a licensed psychological practitioner, she was able to help many people with various life issues. She was especially dedicated to helping children and families.
Following her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, was an avid reader, and continued to satisfy her intellectual curiosity.
She was loved and will be sadly missed by her four children, Samuel L. (Marykay) of King-of-Prussia, PA; Sandra L. (wife of the late Terry Grubbs) Port Orange, FL; Benjamin G. (Shelley) of Geneva, FL; and Thomas S. (Lynn) of Boca Raton. She will also be sadly missed by her eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10th, at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. A graveside service with military honors we be performed and she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Samuel.
