Lori Lynn Drafahl's Obituary
We are devastated to announce the passing of my sister, Lori Lynn Drafahl, 63, of Palm Coast, Florida. Lori left us on March 6, 2025, after a valiant battle with heart disease. She was born on February 4, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and spent most of her adult life in the Virginia and Maryland area. In 2021, she moved to Palm Coast with her dearest and best friend, Julie Kovach.
Lori loved her Florida lifestyle—it matched her vibrant, artistic spirit. She had been an amazing artist since childhood and had a deep passion for arts and crafts. She even spent time teaching her young neighbor some basic art skills. Another of Lori’s great passions was cooking. It was her love language, a source of peace and joy. She especially cherished cooking in her kitchen, gazing out the window of the Florida home she shared with her dear friend, Julie.
Lori didn’t have the easiest life; she endured more than most. We often joked that this life was so full of potholes that her next one would be utterly luxurious—lounging on a couch, eating grapes, and listening to Barry White or Rod Stewart. Her defining traits were kindness, love, and humor. She was quick-witted, sometimes sarcastic, and used laughter to get through the toughest of times. Her greatest strength was her unwavering love—when she cared for you, she would do anything for you, often worrying more about others than herself.
Lori will be deeply missed by her “crazy little” sister, Julieann Fare; her dearest and best friends, Julie Kovach, Gary and Donna Rye, and Joan Richards. As we grapple with the loss of her physical presence, we find solace in knowing that her spirit lives on in the love she gave us. Her artistic soul and unique perspective will remain with us always.
