Louis J. D'Amelio's Obituary
Louis J. D'Amelio, born on February 18, 1938, in New York City, passed away on September 9, 2024, at Advent Health Palm Coast Parkway. He lived a life marked by love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
Lou is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Patsy D'Amelio; his cherished daughter, Cindi D'Amelio Leisner, and son-in-law, Jim Leisner; his grandsons, Alan Curtis and wife Ana, and Jonathan Curtis; his great-grandson, Luke Curtis; as well as his sister-in-law, JoAnn Vinson, Skip Martin, brother-in-law and his wife Lisa Martin, and nieces Kathy Tortorella, Sherri Hughes, and Nicole Dominici, along with great-nephew Daniel Dorman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Lou D'Amelio; his sisters, Pat D'Amelio and Bobbie Campo; his sons, Keith and Buddy D'Amelio; his nephew, Rocky Tortorella; and Ginny Barlag, his ex-wife with whom he and Patsy maintained a lasting friendship.
Lou was a man of many passions. His love for animals was boundless, and he found immense joy in his Tuesday nights at the Italian American Club, where he would sing karaoke with Patsy and a myriad of friends. His heart was full when he traveled twice a year to Las Vegas and the Caribbean, creating treasured memories with Patsy that they held close.
In the 1980s, Lou owned and operated several nightclubs in Washington, DC, a testament to his vibrant spirit and zest for life. When he and Patsy moved to Palm Coast, Florida, in 2013, Lou continued to embrace life with enthusiasm. He volunteered at the Elks Club, delved into the car industry, and took on the role of security at the Flagler County courthouse, leaving a positive impact wherever he went.
Lou had his quirks, endearing to all who knew him. He had a daily ritual of grocery shopping, sometimes twice a day, and always made sure Patsy's car was filled with gas, believing it was a small yet significant way to show his love.
Lou was a truly good man, loved by everyone he met. His warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and joy will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
