Margaret Lettera's Obituary
Margaret Lettera was born on January 26, 1946 to Frank and Minda Serio in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended St. Peter the Apostle elementary school and St. Martin high school, where she excelled in academics, was editor in chief for the yearbook, won the title of "most witty," and graduated top of her class. Later, she attended Anne Arundel Community College.
She married Michael James Chapman Sr. in July of 1964. Her son, Michael Jr., was born on May 9, 1965 followed by her daughter, Lisa, on July 12, 1967. Margaret and Michael lived a fun and fascinating life, making many friends and memories together. At one point, they owned and operated a hotel in Daytona in 1970. They were never afraid to take a risk or make a change.
Margaret worked occasionally while raising her children and later worked at Westinghouse in Maryland for many years before divorcing and moving to Florida in 1991 where she met her second husband, Albert Lettera, who she married in 1995. Al had three grown children of his own- Al Jr., Frankie, and Larry- who she welcomed as her own. She and Al made many friends and enjoyed endless laughter and great times. They loved visiting the Italian American club, entertaining and cooking for friends, going on boating trips, and much more. Al died in October of 2008.
Margaret loved spending time with her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and John Brice, and especially her grandchildren Caroline, Ariana, Sophia, and Tiffany. She loved and enjoyed her great granddaughter Aubree. She also was very devoted to her many friends and neighbors.
Margaret was the most passionate and compassionate animal lover you could ever meet. She absolutely loved her cats, proudly taking on the role of “crazy cat lady” in her neighborhood. She fed all of the neighborhood cats and birds, allowing her yard to develop into a sanctuary of plants, birds, cats, racoons and other various animals that provided her with great joy and purpose.
Last, but in no way least, Margaret was known for her excellent culinary skills. If she fed you a meal, you remembered it. And she remembered everyone’s favorite meals, as her love language was food. Margaret will be missed beyond words, but she leaves behind an incredible legacy of laughter, kindness, joy, memories, and recipes!
