Margaret "Peggy" Steele's Obituary
Margaret "Peggy" Steele, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on June 1, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born on June 18, 1930, in Saratoga Springs, New York, Peggy was the daughter of the late Sheffield Fuller and Margaret Yates Fuller. Throughout her life, she touched countless hearts with her kindness, generosity, and ever-present smile. Family and friends knew that whenever they visited, they would be greeted warmly by Peggy's beautiful smile and welcoming spirit.
Peggy lived a life dedicated to serving others. In addition to her work as a teacher, she held many roles throughout the years, including telephone operator, piano instructor, land surveyor, and owner and operator of her own beauty shop. No matter the profession, she approached every endeavor with determination, grace, and a genuine love for people.
She was especially gifted with her hands and her heart. Peggy loved knitting and spent countless hours creating sweaters, hats, mittens, and beautiful afghans for family and friends. She found great joy in giving her handmade treasures away, sharing warmth and love with everyone fortunate enough to receive them.
Peggy also spent many happy hours helping in her daughter Nancy's ice cream shop, where she enjoyed meeting people and lending a helping hand. She treasured time spent with family and friends and found joy in life's simple moments.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Sheffield Fuller and Margaret Yates Fuller, and her beloved daughter, Lynn Hale.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 77 years, Stephen Steele; her daughters, Susan Morris and Nancy (Dan) Harrington; her son-in-law, Chris Hale; her grandsons, Bob (Danielle) Starr of Palm Coast, Florida, David (Jessie) Starr of Binghamton, New York, and Jeff (Meg) Hale of Chesapeake, Virginia; her cherished great-grandchildren, Bobby Starr, Caden Starr, Parker Starr, Gracie Hale, and Audrey Hale; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jackie and Jim Morewelicz for their extraordinary friendship over the years. Peggy cherished the countless game nights, daily visits, and Friday night dinners shared together. Your love, companionship, and unwavering friendship brought much joy to her life and will always be remembered with gratitude.
Peggy's life was a testament to love, hard work, generosity, and devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she treasured, and the countless handmade gifts and acts of kindness she shared throughout her 95 years. While her presence will be deeply missed, the warmth of her love and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
