Maria Nilza Silva's Obituary
With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Maria Nilza Silva, 84, of Palm Coast, Florida. She departed this life peacefully on April 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Born on December 12, 1940, in the beautiful town of Praia da Vitória, Santa Cruz, Portugal, Nilza carried with her the warmth and spirit of her homeland throughout her life. Her devotion to the Catholic Church was steadfast, and her faith served as the cornerstone of her strength and compassion.
Nilza had a passion for travel and embraced every opportunity to experience the beauty of the world and the people in it. She was a vibrant soul who found true happiness in life’s simple pleasures—gathering with loved ones, sharing stories, laughing freely, and creating memories that now live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jeronimo Espinola da Silva; her mother, Maria Deolinda de Jesus Borges; and her father, João de Sousa Meneses.
She is survived by her loving children: her son Helder Silva and his wife Cristina, and her daughter Lorena Malaquias. Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her cherished granddaughters—Jailene Silva, Britney Silva, and Fedra Malaquias and her wife, Mallory Holguin—and her precious great-grandchildren, Arlo Holguin-Malaquias and Reese Holguin-Malaquias.
Nilza also leaves behind her dear sisters—Diana Brum, Eduarda Ferreira, and Elizabete Salazar—along with their spouses, nieces, and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 1:00 PM on May 3, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. We invite all who knew and loved Nilza to join us in remembering her remarkable life and the joy she brought to so many.
Though she has left this earthly life, Nilza’s legacy of love, faith, and family endures. May she rest in eternal peace.
