Marilyn Ann Jackson, 88, Flagler Beach FL. (Former resident of Waterville, NY and Shortsville, NY) died on 3/13/2023 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Marilyn was born to Paul and Kathleen Aprath in Waterville, NY. She graduated from Waterville Central High School and took her first job as a secretary for General Electric.
Marilyn met her future spouse, Leonard Jackson, on the school bus. In high school, they played in the school orchestra together. Marilyn would always reminisce about how kind Leonard was to everyone. His kindness to others was the main quality which attracted her to him. They reconnected when Leonard returned home from the Korean War and they wed in 1954. The young couple moved to Ithaca and Penn Yan before settling in the Canandaigua area for Leonard’s job with Farm Credit Services. Marilyn thrived supporting Leonard with his many responsibilities with Farm Credit.
When Marilyn started her family, she became a dedicated mother to Deborah and Carol. Marilyn was active in the girls' school activities and community organizations. She was always volunteering or lending a helping hand. She served as a Girl Scout Leader and room mother. She was a member of the PTA, the Lioness Club, and the Bulow Plantation Homeowners Association. After Leonard’s death in 1986, Marilyn remained in Shortsville until she met Joseph Ribstein. Marilyn and Joe started spending their summers in Vine Valley on Canandaigua Lake and winters in Flagler Beach. She also enjoyed her role as Grandma to Michael and Ashlyn. The extended family visited each other often in Florida, New York and Texas. Marilyn showed complete joy when she met her great grandson Jaxon in July 2022. Marilyn found great enjoyment in watching the world around us. She enjoyed a beautiful sunrise or sunset and walks in nature to observe the flowers and wildlife.
Marilyn valued all her friendships she made throughout her life. She made keeping in touch with her friends a priority. Marilyn was a true friend to many and made it her mission to be kind to everyone. Marilyn always had a smile on her face and had a great sense of humor.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Leonard Jackson and longtime companion Joseph Ribstein. She is survived by her daughters Deborah and Carol(Brian). Her two grandchildren Michael Gonzales(Jessica), Ashlyn Gonzales, great grandson Jaxon Gonzales, and her brother Richard Aprath(Frances).
