Mary Ellen Thompson's Obituary
Mary Ellen Worthington, 94, of Port Orange, FL died around 12:30am on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Halifax Health-Hospice facility in Port Orange.
She was born on June 14, 1924 in Terre Haute, IN to Carney and Helen Gambill. She grew up in New Castle and Muncie, IN.
On December 24, 1941 Mary Ellen married Harry "Bud" Thompson of Muncie. They had two children, Thomas in 1945 and Patricia in 1946.
In 1961, Mary Ellen married Al Goddard. They moved to The Landings in Port Orange in 1982. Al died in 1997.
Mary Ellen remarried her first husband, Bud Thompson, in 1997 and moved to the San Diego County area. Bud died in 1999 and Mary Ellen subsequently moved back to The Landings in Port Orange.
On January 24, 2009 Mary Ellen married Howard Worthington of Port Orange. They lived at The Landings/Lighthouse Point until they purchased a home in the Summer Trees Community.
Mary Ellen was a member of The Landings / Lighthouse Point "Red Hatters" group. She enjoyed their activities and looked forward to socializing with them.
Mary Ellen was a devoted wife; a loving mother of 2; a grandmother of 4; a great-grandmother of 4; and great-great grandmother of 3. She was also known to be a very "feisty" woman.
