Michael William Harrison
Michael William Harrison of Ormond Beach, FL was born on February 17, 1937 in Detroit Lakes, MN to the late Harry William Hall and Margaret Hall nee Reilly. After the death of his father and remarriage of his mother Michael was adopted by John Harrison. Michael passed away on August 20, 2013 at the Hospice Care Center in Port Orange, FL at the age of 76 years.
Michael was a longtime resident of Atlanta, GA where he raised his family. Upon his retirement as President of Piping Products in 1985 he went into business for himself and owned several small businesses. He relocated to Chattanooga, TN from Atlanta, GA, before eventually settling in the Central Florida area in 2004 after the death of his wife Carolyn Hinshaw. He had a deep love for horses and was a western era gun enthusiast. Michael also was an avid golfer and tennis player. He was a member of SASS “Single Action Shooting Society”, and the New Smyrna Beach Shuffleboard Club.
He is survived by his fiancé Pamela C. Floyd of Ormond Beach, FL, sons; Keith Harrison and Kevin Harrison, and wife Clair, and granddaughter Virginia “Ginger” Harrison all of Atlanta, GA, his brother John Harrison and wife Susie , his sister Jane Spence and husband Perry of Tyler, TX. Also surviving are the children of his fiancé, Kellee DeRiggi and husband Sal of Ormond Beach, FL and Andrew White of New York, NY, granddaughter Ella DeRiggi, three nephews, and one niece.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Michael’s honor be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the Hunter’s Ridge Clubhouse, 100 Shadow Crossing Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
All arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral & Cremation Service, Port Orange, FL.
