Michelle Dries' Obituary
UPDATE: A Celebration of Life service will be held in Biglerville, Pennsylvania, Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at 10 a.m., at Trinity Christian Fellowship (CF). Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
Michelle (Shaffer) Dries, 66, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and generosity of spirit. Michelle was married to her husband, Dave Dries, for 23 years. In retirement, Michelle and Dave settled in Flagler Beach, Florida, fulfilling Michelle's lifelong wish to live by the ocean. It was her dream home and a welcoming place filled with laughter and open doors for family and friends, where countless memories were made.
Michelle dedicated 34 years to Conewago Valley School District as a reading teacher. She also served as a cheerleading and student council advisor, touching countless young lives with encouragement and compassion.
She is survived by her sons and their families: Austin and Michelle Herzing, and their children Memphis, Jude, and Lola, of St. John's, Florida; and Cole and Taylor Herzing, and their children Sawyer, Tate, and Carter, of Ocala, Florida; and her stepson, Brian Dries of Philadelphia. Michelle is survived by her parents, Gene and Darby Shaffer of Biglerville, Pennsylvania, and her brothers and their families: Eric Shaffer of Smithburg, Maryland, and Nate and Jenni Shaffer of Bendersville, Pennsylvania, along with eight nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Biglerville High School, Michelle earned her undergraduate degree from Clarion University and her master's degree from Western Maryland College. Known for her welcoming and warm spirit, Michelle's home was always open. She was filled with care for others and a joyful sense of fun. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading, doing puzzles, and enjoying long days at the beach. She also faithfully served on the consistory at Trinity Christian Fellowship in Biglerville.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Biglerville, Pennsylvania, Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at 10 a.m., at Trinity Christian Fellowship (CF). Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity CF.
Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service in Bunnell Florida are in charge of the arrangements.
