Ottomar Schmelzer's Obituary
In loving memory of Ottomar Schmelzer
January 18th, 1937 – August 28th, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ottomar Schmelzer, who departed us peacefully on August 28th, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born in Poland in 1937, Ottomar lived through extraordinary times that shaped his character into one defined by resilience, dedication, and an unwavering work ethic. A man of few words but deep convictions, Ottomar built his life on the values of integrity, loyalty, and love for his family. He was a tireless worker, never one to shy away from responsibility or challenge. His hands built more than just livelihood, they built a legacy. But above all, Ottomar greatest pride and joy was his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 60 years, Erica, who stood beside him through life’s triumphs and trials. He was a loving father to his daughter Tammy Ann, and Todd, whom he adored, and a proud Opa to his cherished grandchildren, Jesse and Jordan. His eyes would light up at the sound of their laughter, and his heart found peace in their presence.
Ottomar’s strength, quiet wisdom, and gentle smile will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A service will be held with close family and friends at St. Stephen’s Chapel on September 13th at 11 A.M., with a repast to follow at the Woodhaven community club house.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you take a moment to hold your loved ones a little closer, just as Ottomar would have wanted.
Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service of Bunnell, FL assisted the family with arrangements. www.HeritageFlagler.com
