Peter L DeYoung's Obituary
With deep love and gratitude to God for a life fully lived, we announced the passing of Peter De Young, who was called home to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ, on January 7th, 2026.
Pete lived a life firmly grounded in faith, integrity, humility, and service. As a devoted Christian, he trusted God in all seasons of life and sought to reflect Christ not only in word, but in action. His faith was lived out daily through kindness, compassion, and unwavering trust in God's plan.
Pete proudly served in the United States Navy, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to duty, honor, and service to something greater than himself. The discipline and character shaped during his military service remained with him throughout his life and guided him in the way he led, loved, and cared for others.
Above all, Pete was a loving husband, devoted father, and a steady source of strength to his family. He led by example, offering wise counsel, encouragement, and a calm faithful presence that will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. His greatest joy was knowing that his children were walking in the truth as scripture says 3 John verse 4. We take comfort in God's promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and in the words:
“well done, good and faithful servant….enter into the joy of the Lord.” - Matthew 25:23. Pete often signed his emails with the verse that reflected the strength and hope by which he lived: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” - Philippians 4:13. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Tina De Young. He is survived by his beloved wife Melody, his sister Kris de young, his brother Tom de young, his children Heather (Scott) Mellema, Chad (Bobbi) DeYoung, Candice (Mike) Lesnau, Kimberly DeYoung and his many adoring grandchildren.
The celebration of life service will be held on January 22, 2026, at 2pm at Parkview Church (5435 Belle Terre Pkwy, Palm Coast, FL 32137)
Heritage Funeral and Cremation service, Bunnell Florida, are in charge of the arrangements.
