Rebecca Ruth Durrance Leavitt's Obituary
Rebecca (Becky/Beck) Ruth Durrance Leavitt, 68, of Palm Coast, FL, fell asleep in death on March 30, 2026 after battling long and hard against Pancreatic Cancer. Although her spirit has left us, her memory remains in the hearts and minds of her family, friends, and all who knew her.
She will be remembered for all the good qualities she possessed. She will be greatly missed until we are reunited. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Roena (Ross) Patterson, her husband, Steven Durrance, her uncle Sonny Ross, aunt Peggy Ross, and her brother, Boyd Patterson Jr. Those mourning her loss include her husband Thomas Leavitt, daughter Blair Wathen (Chris) and grandchildren Elle and Layla, step-daughter Stacey Leavitt McDonough (John) and grandson Liam, step-son Taylor Durrance (Zane) and grandchildren Alise and Emmy, step-daughter Kayleigh Durrance, nieces Nicole Patterson (Tober), aunt and uncle Brenda and Peter Kinne, and many friends and family members, as well as her cats, Mister, Roger and Abby…all of whom she loved dearly.
Becky enjoyed helping, giving and doing things for others, animals, the world and her community. She retired from the City of Ormond Beach as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, or “turd tester” as she humorously called it, where she took pride in processing Ormond wastewater into some of the cleanest in the state of Florida, and the nation. She volunteered for Hospice, providing companionship to patients and relief to their family members during difficult times.
She volunteered at Flagler Cats Spay & Neuter Clinic where she held the title of Executive Director Assistant and aided with various tasks related to the care of feral cats within the Flagler community. She volunteered with Feeding Hands at St.Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church preparing and giving out food to ones in need. She loved being employed at Cypress Knoll Golf & Country Club in the Proshop where she made many friends (and visitors) feel welcomed, acknowledged and encouraged to come see her and play there.
In honor and memory of Becky, there will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Cypress Knoll Golf & Country Club from 2-5pm. In lieu of traditional gifts, Becky would have preferred any and all gifts to be donated in her honor to Flagler Cats Spay & Neuter Clinic, St. Jude, any Cancer society, Plant a tree in Honor, or any other organization that would help others, animals or the world. All friends and family who would like to contribute memories of and pay their respects to Becky are welcome to attend.
Heritage Funeral and Cremation service is assisting the family with arrangements.
