Richard R Beard's Obituary
GONE HOME
Richard R. Beard, 89, of Korona, FL went home to be with his Lord on March 31, 2018. He was born in Hagerstown, Maryland on May 26, 1928 to Harry and Ethel (Miller) Beard. Richard married Jessie Hogarth in Palatka, FL on August 3, 1963.
More than anything else in his life, Richard loved his family. He enjoyed making various wood working projects, especially toys and crafts for the benefit of his children and grandchildren. He also made numerous cedar chests and furniture pieces. Richard enjoyed raising and working with various kinds of horses and miniature horses. Aircraft played a major role both in his work and recreation, as Richard loved building and flying model airplanes and helicopters.
Passionate about praising the Lord, Richard followed a call to work with several small rural churches in Flagler and Volusia counties over the years to help establish and grow their choirs, before he and Jessie settled into Central Baptist Church in Palm Coast.
Richard is predeceased in death by his first wife, Lois Shank Beard; his father Harry Beard and mother Ethel Beard; his son Gregory Beard; and his brother Edwin Beard. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jessie Beard; his daughter Rebecca (James) Schmidt; his sons Frank (Amy) Beard and Jeffrey (Rita) Beard; and brother Gerald Beard. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, along with grandchildren Erik Schmidt, Dana Davis, Eden and Blake Beard, Stefanie Bowkowski, Misty Beard; as well as great grandchildren Riley Schmidt, Katlin and Anna Bowkowski.
A public memorial service has been scheduled for Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11am at Central Baptist Church, 5830 FL-100, Palm Coast, FL 32164. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Richard's memory by good deed or donation to a charity or organization of your choice.
