With heavy hearts, we announce that Richard Armand La France went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by family.
Born on May 15, 1947, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Richard was the beloved son of the late Armand La France and Simone Sirois La France. He is survived by his daughters, Brigitte La France of Florida, Kim La France of North Carolina, and Michelle La France of Washington; predeceased by his brother Robert La France and survived by his brothers, Thomas La France and Jimmy La France; sister-in-law Denise La France; four cherished grandchildren, including grandsons Santino Drago, Isaiah Morawski, Tanner Bohnsack, and Blake DeSenti; and his several beloved great-grandkids.
He is also remembered by his former spouses, Susanne La France, mother of Brigitte and Michelle, and Jesse Sills, mother of Kim.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a chapter that shaped his values and remained a source of pride throughout his life. He was a past member of the Connecticut Jaycee's and the Elks' Club.
Richard was also a man of many passions. He loved fishing and was an accomplished swimmer and water skier. A talented musician, Richard found joy and expression through playing instruments and sharing music with family and friends. He was a founding member of the Contempos, a contemporary band based in CT during the 1970s where he played trumpet and lead vocals. His passion for creativity extended to technology, where he built a successful career working with computers—a field he loved deeply and embraced throughout his life.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures of watching his favorite movies and TV shows—especially science fiction and mysteries—and he had a natural talent for shooting pool, enjoying both the game and the community it brought him.
He faced many years of illness with quiet courage, unwavering strength, and an unshakable will to keep going. Even in the hardest times, Richard never gave up—he was a fighter through and through, showing resilience that inspired those closest to him.
Though life brought its challenges, Richard met them with grit, humor, and a deep love for his family. His presence, his stories, and his unmistakable laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
