Richard A Orr's Obituary
Richard Arthur Orr, 96, of Ormond Beach, FL died on July 20, 2020. Richard was born to Arthur and Leona (Shappell) Orr on February 21, 1924 in Knoxville, IA. Richard married Marilyn Henderson of LeRoy MN on April 29, 1944 in Mason City, IA and they were married for over 50 years before her passing.
Richard and Marilyn resided in a number of locations during their marriage including Rock Island, IL and Denver, CO, but spent the most time at their home in Camanche, IA, where they moved to in 1966. Richard was employed for nearly 30 years as a Loan Officer / Office Manager for Dial Finance (later Norwest then Wells Fargo) before retiring in the mid 1980s.
Richard’s greatest joy was just hanging around his Camanche home working in the yard, watering the grass & plants and enjoying the back yard deck. It was also a regular routine for Richard and Marilyn to drive down to the Quad Cities for a buffet lunch and to take in a movie.
Richard is predeceased by his parents and two sisters (Neva Furness and Freda Cecil) as well as his wife. He is survived by his three children; Barbara Ryan of Ormond Beach, FL, Douglas Orr of West Des Moines, IA, and Ronald Orr of Naples, FL. He is also survived by five grandchildren Karen, Marilyn, Tony, Dustin, and Olivia and five great grandchildren.
