Richard Charles Sargalis' Obituary
On Friday, September 13, 2024, Richard Charles Sargalis passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and sons, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on October 9, 1965, in Schenectady, NY, to Richard J. Sargalis and the late E. Lynn (Leguire) Cavanaugh, Rick was a devoted husband and father whose infectious laugh, compassion, and friendly demeanor made him a cherished friend to many.
Rick loved to travel, embrace adventures in the mountains, and relax on the beach. A lifelong athlete, he continued to play men's adult baseball for many years, earned his black belt in taekwondo in 2014, and remained dedicated to his fitness routine right up until his cancer diagnosis in March 2024. In late December 2023, he relocated with his family from Durham, NC, to Palm Coast, FL.
A passionate baseball enthusiast, Rick was a beloved Little League coach for over 20 years and was a lifelong Phillies fan. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Rebecca (Franklin) Sargalis, and their two sons, Rory F. Sargalis and Gregory J. Sargalis.
Rick worked for Frito-Lay for 18 years and previously spent numerous years in retail. He will be deeply missed by his friends and extended family.
Honoring Rick’s wishes, there will be no funeral services, but a private celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, Rick requested that donations be made to the Patient Assistance Foundation of Cancer Specialists of North Florida: https://pafcsnf.org/#donations
Rick’s family expresses immense gratitude to those who cared for him during his battle with cancer.
