Richard "Dick" Whitman's Obituary
Richard “Dick” A. Whitman passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born and raised in Massachusetts and later made Florida his home, living in Port Orange for over 25 years before settling in Palm Coast, where he resided for the past 22 years. He was a proud graduate of Saint Anselm College, Class of 1968.
Dick dedicated 24 years of his professional life as an IT Supervisor at Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University, where he was respected for his knowledge, dedication, and steady leadership. He was also a proud veteran who served his country honorably.
A man of deep faith, Dick served as an Elder within the Palm Coast congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years, offering guidance, encouragement, and compassion to those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah “Sally” Whitman; his children, R. Todd Whitman and his wife Shanetta, Jennifer “Hannah” Wigle and her husband Arron, Amanda Bredstrup and her husband Tim, and Ella Bredstrup; and his brothers, Ken Whitman and Steve Whitman.
Dick found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved traveling and cherished time spent with his family above all else. In his younger years, he had a passion for music, especially playing the trumpet. In later years, he found peace and happiness tending to his backyard—carefully nurturing his fish ponds and plants, creating a place of beauty and serenity.
Dick will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to his family and faith, and the gentle, steady presence he brought into the lives of those who knew him. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
