On behalf of the Palm Coast Fire Department, I extend my deepest condolences to Carole, Kelly Anne, Courtney, Nathan, and the entire MacDonald family on the passing of Robert “Sparky” MacDonald.
Sparky was a true friend to the fire service and a genuine advocate for firefighters. His lifelong commitment to service, beginning as a volunteer firefighter in New Jersey and continuing through decades of public service, reflected a deep respect for those who answer the call and for the communities they serve. During his time serving on our pension board, Sparky brought thoughtfulness, fairness, and a clear sense of responsibility to the work, always mindful that behind every decision were firefighters and families who had dedicated their careers to public service.
Beyond his service, Sparky will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unmistakable passion for the fire service. His love for fire department history and memorabilia spoke to a deep appreciation for the traditions and people that define our profession. He made those around him feel welcome, valued, and heard.
We are grateful for the time we had with Sparky, for his friendship, and for the steady support he showed our firefighters. He leaves a meaningful legacy of service, advocacy, and kindness that will not be forgotten.
Rest easy, Sparky. You will be missed, and you will always be remembered.
See you at the big one!
