Roger W Treidel's Obituary
Roger W. Treidel, 80, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away peacefully on December 28, 2020 with his wife and son by his side. Born in Newark, New Jersey on April, 17, 1940 to Jacob Treidel, who immigrated from Mayen, Germany, and Mary Veneziano Treidel, a first generation Italian-American. He attended Sacred Heart Grammar School, graduated from Bloomfield High School (Class of 1957), and later took classes at Upsala College in East Orange, NJ to continue his education. From 1957 through 1961, he served in the US Air Force as a musician supporting various military and entertainment functions throughout the south-east United States. In 1987, Roger retired as Project Manager/Consultant from Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers). In retirement, Roger started Atlantic Compass, a compass repair and adjustment business in Annapolis MD, servicing marine compasses on sailboats and commercial vessels, including most of the east coast US Coast Guard fleet.
Roger and his wife spent many years sailing the Chesapeake Bay in their 32’ sloop, Nirvana, before rehabbing an 1830s log cabin in the mountains of Lost River, West Virginia where Roger transitioned to fly fishing and wood-working.
Roger is survived by his wife, Paula Fitzwater Treidel; son, Gary Treidel (Billy Franklin); grandson, Christopher Treidel (Melissa); and brother, Kenneth Treidel (Irene Bauman).
