Roy Herman Straub - 86 yrs. of Palm Coast, FL - passed away peacefully at home with his wife nearby.
Born January 18, 1939 in Monroe, MI – Roy was the son of Arthur and Grace Straub. He graduated from Monroe High School and left home to work as a machinist. He married the love of his life Loyda "Loydie" Lavandero on April 26th, 1968, and they subsequently moved to southern California where they eventually had and raised two children, Alex and Elizabeth, in Whittier, CA. Roy devoted his working life to developing innovative and advanced plastic manufacturing machines and blow molding products. Roy quickly advanced in his career to become a plant manager overseeing various plastics manufacturing plants for ProPak, Georgia-Pacific, and other companies. He was notable for designing superior blow molding machines, operations management, and serving as an industry consultant where he was brought in to improve manufacturing processes, safety safeguards, and providing expertise helping plastics manufacturers increase productivity, efficiency, and profitability before finally retiring.
Retirement ushered in a new chapter in his life, spending his time on hobbies he loved. He poured his heart into inventing different gadgets, maintaining a beautiful garden, fishing with his son-in-law, and enjoying time with his wife, family, friends, and neighbors. Most importantly, he was a kind, generous, and loving father, husband, and friend to all who were fortunate enough to be in his life.
Survivors include: his wife, Loyda Straub, son Alex Straub and daughter-in-law Heather Straub, daughter Elizabeth Lavandero and son-in-law Joe Averdick, and grandchildren, Samuel Rogers and Marissa Franz. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arthur “Dale” and Arnold Straub, and sister Annabelle Russ.
