Ruth Alexandra Yarber

Today God opened his arms and welcomed his newest angel, Ruth Yarber. Ruth was born on August 6, 1927 to Rubert and Alexandra (Williamson) Harding in Belfast, Ireland. She immigrated to the US in 1943. She loved to dance with her brother Raymond in Ireland, so she became an Authur Murray dance instructor in Indianapolis, IN. Shortly there after, her sister Joan and mother joined her in the US. She then went to technical school and became an executive secretary. Her first job was working at Bridgeport Brass. She met Robert "Bob" Yarber in 1948, and they married after a brief courtship. As a major in the Air Force for 20 years, Robert was stationed in a variety of places both domestically and overseas. They deeply enjoyed each location together, easily meeting many friends along the way. After Robert retired they moved to Key West, FL and raised two daughters, Schavawn and Kerryaine. While in Key West, Ruth worked at Key West Hand Print Fabrics and modeled for the company part time. She was involved in her church, Peace Covenant Presbyterian, a member of the service organization Eastern Star, and an English-Irish club, called the Keylimeys. When Robert was transferred to Miami, FL, Ruth was called for greater service to the glory of God. She attended Old Cutler Presbyterian and Central Presbyterian churches and served as Deacon, Elder, and was one of the first Stephen's Ministers in the church to support the congregation on a one-on-one basis. She passionately lead the church's Wedding Committee, which helped couples to have a worryfree wedding ceremony often putting in long hours. Ruth also joined the Crochet club, Homestead Sewing Club. Ruth was a woman of beautiful faith. Her family feels incredibly fortunate that she was theirs- a best friend and Mother. She shared her love for God willingly and always gave of herself. Those who met her always said what a beautiful spirit she has: "She is such an angel" was a frequent and honest sentiment. Her daughters Schavawn (Pat) Yarber-Kennedy and Kerryaine (Bob) Yarber-Hiller; niece Patty Shannon and nephew Ray (Sherry) Shannon all feel truly blessed to have called her "Momma" and "Aunt" for this many years! She was truly a remarkable woman in so many ways, and will be deeply missed by her family and the countless friends she had made over her lifetime. Even in her last days, all of her caregivers enjoyed visiting with her, sharing smiles and giving her kisses on her forehead. Memorial details will be forthcoming.
