Sharon Lynn Thompson, 77, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully after a life well lived.
Born in 1948 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Sharon lived a life defined by determination, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. She approached every challenge with strength and resilience, always willing to work hard and care deeply for the people she loved.
For more than 40 years, Sharon dedicated her career to helping people find meaningful employment throughout Volusia County. She began as an employee at the Daytona Employment Agency in Daytona Beach, Florida, and through her hard work and perseverance, eventually became its owner. Throughout her career, she touched countless lives by helping individuals build careers and create better futures for themselves and their families.
Sharon found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. She was happiest in her kitchen, where she lovingly prepared home-cooked meals and baked from scratch for family and friends. Her home was always filled with warmth, delicious food, and the feeling that everyone was welcome. She also cherished traveling with her husband and family to North Carolina and Tennessee, especially visiting the Great Smoky Mountains, her favorite place to find peace and beauty. One of her favorite songs, “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” perfectly reflected her love for the mountains and the simple joys of life.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Madeline Templeton; her beloved sons, Michael and Stephen Budd; her daughter, Heather; and her cherished grandson, Tyler Budd. Though these losses weighed heavily on her heart, Sharon carried their memories with her always.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of many years Bert Thompson; her stepchildren, Steve Thompson and Marguerite Overstreet; her grandchildren, Logan and Ashley; her sister, Joanne; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by her kindness, generosity, and strength.
Sharon’s legacy is one of hard work, selfless service, unconditional love, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her welcoming spirit, and the countless ways she made others feel cared for.
Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the lives she impacted will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A private celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at a later date.
