Shirley Ann Hicks' Obituary
Shirley Hicks, age 84, of Ormond Beach, FL, went home to be with the Lord on July 13, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Shirley was known for her unwavering faith, warm smile, and lifelong heart for service.
Born and raised in Rome, Georgia, Shirley attended Georgia State University. She was the beloved wife of Charlie Hicks, her high school sweetheart, and together they shared 67 beautiful years of marriage. As a Navy wife, Shirley’s life journey took her and Charlie across the country—from California and South Carolina to Maryland, Georgia, Missouri, and finally Florida—building friendships and church families everywhere they went.
For nearly 25 years, Shirley was a cherished member of Riverbend Community Church, where she faithfully served in Sarah’s Circle and with WARM (Women Assisting Recovering Mothers). Alongside Charlie, she also joyfully assisted in children’s teaching ministries, planting seeds of faith in young hearts.
Shirley’s dedication to ministry extended beyond Riverbend. In the various churches they attended throughout the years, she served as church secretary and as a leader in the Girls Auxiliary (GA), always using her gifts to encourage and uplift others. More recently, she served as the Chief Financial Officer of BGA Industries, supporting Charlie’s local business with integrity and care.
Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to family and faith. She is survived by her husband Charlie; their three children; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her brother; and a host of extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply but celebrate the life she lived so well.
