Stephen K Burns' Obituary
Stephen K. Burns (Steve), 71, passed away on March 30, 2024 in Palm Coast, Florida.
Born January 3rd, 1953 in Waycross Georgia, Steve lived in New Jersey, Virginia, and North Carolina before finally settling in Lawrenceville, Georgia for 24 years with his wife Jane and their six children.
Steve was a devoted family man. Beyond the countless milestones encountered when raising his many children – first steps, driving lessons, high school and college graduations, and beyond – he was a wise and compassionate counselor through all of life’s ups and downs for the entire family.
In addition to working as an IT project manager and raising his large family, he was an active leader in his church, First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville. Natural to his character, he devoted much of his time to serving others in the Stephen Ministry, offering counseling, support, and prayer to those undergoing moments of crisis. He was also a dedicated Bible study teacher and a frequent usher and attendee of Sunday morning services.
Steve was an avid collector, amassing large collections of baseball caps, cameras, watches, cufflinks, and more. His children loved hunting for souvenir golf balls to add to his collection that adorned the family dining room. He spent much of his free time on the golf course – from volunteering at hole 16 in Augusta as a kid to later helping at the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta. He was a lifelong dog lover, and he enjoyed spending his retirement in Palm Coast, Florida with Jane and the pups they rescued, Lucy, Bailey, Patsy, and Breezy.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward, mother Mary, and brother Alan.
Steve is survived by his wife Jane; children Jennifer, Danny, Stephanie, Laura, Richard, and Shona; and grandchildren Taylor, MJ, Caleb, and Bryce. He was also a beloved uncle to nephew Chris and niece Amanda and great-uncle to Ryan, Alanna, Sawyer, and Maddux.
He will be deeply missed.
Receptions honoring his life will be held at later dates in Palm Coast, Florida and Lawrenceville, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville or Flagler Beach United Methodist Church.
Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
