Steven D. Kelley's Obituary
Steven Dale Kelley, 62, passed away at Halifax Health Hospice Center Edgewater on August 29, 2016. He was a kind and compassionate probation officer for 35 years. Steve, the son of an Air Force Master Sargent traveled most of his life. He was born in Topeka, Kansas, lived in England, Savannah, Georgia, Madrid and Moron, Spain, Plattsburg, New York, Springfield, Massachusetts, Altamonte Springs, Florida and finally made his home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He graduated from FTU (Florida Technological University) now UCF. Steve met his wife Michelle while working for the Division of Youth Services in Sanford. They married on Valentine’s Day, 1981. Steve enjoyed surfing, riding his bicycles and motorcycle, walking the dogs to the beach and traveling.
He was predeceased in death by his mother and father, Ilse and James Kelley.
Steve is survived by his wife, Michelle, sons Adam (Ashley) and Christopher, aunt Lore Ledbetter, mother in law June Dentel and his dogs Merlin and Taffy.
The family is requesting that donations be made in his name to the scholarship fund, Smyrna Surfari Club, Inc., P.O. Box 2362, New Smyrna Beach, Florida 32170. A private memorial service will held at a later date.
Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements.
