Susan Marie Flanagan's Obituary
With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Susan Marie Flanagan, 75, of St Augustine, Florida. She was born on August 12, 1947 in Houston, Texas to the late Frank and Mary Vanderbeck. Susan passed away on March 27, 2023 after a tough battle with Huntington's Disease.
Sue spent her childhood in Texas, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Ohio, where she graduated from Berea High School in 1965 . After high school, she attended Capital University, the University of Mississippi, and the University of Georgia where she earned a Ph.D. in Applied Psychology. She loved her many career roles and the wonderful people she met along the way. Sue attended First Presbyterian Church in Hartwell, Georgia prior to moving to Florida to be near family. She was a voracious reader, loved visiting museums, and traveling with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Flanagan, and a son, Brian Flanagan.
Susan is survived by two daughters, Sandy(Trey) Shugart of St Augustine, Florida, and Kelly(Stefan) Hutnik of Carthage, North Carolina, and grandchildren, Olivia and Cade Shugart, and Jacob and Amelia Hutnik, two sisters, Ann(Uldis) Kruze of El Cerrito, California, and Jane (Danny) Vanderbeck-Rebarchek, and beloved nieces.
A Celebration of Susan's life will be 3:00 PM, Monday, April 3, 2023 at Providence Bible Church, 7730 County Road 13, St Augustine, Fl 32092 with Pastor Mike Lewis officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM.
