Tannia Marjorie Buchanan's Obituary
Tannia Marjorie Elliott-Buchanan, more fondly known as Mitzie, was born on December 11, 1969, at 11:55pm, in Burnt Savannah, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. She is the third of five children born to Civis Huston Elliott & Burma Roseania Elliott. Following her family's move to Richmond Georges Valley in 1978, Mitzie attended Richmond All Age School.
Mitzie has always spent time on her own unique path. Her free spirit made her a very special young lady. Playing pranks on her siblings with her co-conspirator and brother, Junior, was an enjoyable pastime for her.
Her family moved to Florida in 1980, where she received her formal education from the Broward County Public School District, graduating from Boyd Anderson High School in 1989. Mitzie always experimented with fashion and hairstyles to express her creativity. Once she tried to use a razor to fix her eyebrows and ended up leaving the bathroom without any eyebrows at all! Beauty school was undoubtedly her next step, immediately turning siblings into her guinea pigs for every new hairstyle that existed.
On February 24, 1997, Mitzie was united in holy matrimony to Dudley Buchanan aka Junior. Her husband was her soulmate. The following 24 years provide their bond to be unbreakable, and it forever changed their lives. To Junior Mitzie was perfect and could not be wrong. Their union produced four children, Rikki, Jahmari, Lexieana, and Anniel. After Anniel’s birth, Mitzie and her new family moved and settled in Palm Coast in 2004. Her children absolutely adored her. Mitzie was a dedicated mother and wife. She always took care of her family because they were her everything. Until she passed away, she was their biggest protector, motivator, and cheerleader. Through her support and love for her children, they have excelled in every sport they have participated in, including football and weightlifting. Mitzie traveled to every game, weight match, collected every newspaper clipping they have headlined, and yelled louder than any fan in the stands.
Mitzie's hazel eyes, light brown hair, and happy disposition always brightened any room she entered since she was a child. In addition to her infectious laughter, her heart was filled with love and compassion. Mitzie loved to cook and even graduated from Culinary School in 2012; this made her home the famous gathering for all family and friends. Everyone often found an excuse to eat at her home knowing there would always be great food and her unforgettable laugh! She was also known to her nieces and nephews as the family blackmailer, because she held all those embarrassing pictures you never want anyone to see.
Our beloved Tannia leaves to cherish her memories: Her parents Civis Huston Elliott & Burma Roseania Elliott, her husband, Dudley Buchanan; sons Rikki and Jahmaril; daughters Lexieana, and Anniel; sisters Babs, Paulette, and Kerry; her only brother, Junior; her soon to be granddaughter; and a host of relatives and friends. Tannia will be greatly missed and there will always be a hole in our hearts, but we must never forget that her spirit will never leave us! I’m sure she’ll now be the new caterer in Heaven! God Bless her and her Family.
