Thomas Robert Mistretta's Obituary
Thomas Robert Mistretta, 82, of Palm Coast, FL died peacefully at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House on September 18, 2022. He was born on December 19, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY to Gaetano and Eleanor (nee Piccola) Mistretta.
After high school, Thomas started a career in law enforcement. He proudly served the public for 26 years, from 1961 to 1987, retiring as a sergeant in the New York City Police Department. In his spare time, Thomas enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and in-season bow hunting whenever he had the chance. He also loved riding horses and animals in general, spending many years raising and training German Shepherds.
Those closest to him appreciated Thomas’ kind demeanor and loving heart. Thomas had a great sense of humor and enjoyed getting a laugh or smile from his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by those he left behind.
Thomas is survived by his three children Gigi (Rolf) Zimmermann, Rick (Joan) Mistretta, and Elizabeth Mistretta Honigsberg and his brother Richard (Lucille) Mistretta. He is also survived by his grandchildren Derek (Samantha) Zimmermann, Dylan Zimmermann, Mark Honigsberg, Talia Mistretta, Brianna Mistretta, Thomas Honigsberg, Gaetano Mistretta, and Joseph Mistretta; as well as great grandchildren Ayden Wiggers and Silas Zimmermann.
Preceding Thomas in death were his parents Gaetano and Eleanor Mistretta and his sister Patricia Sciarrino.
